This is a make over of the 2010 film “The Silent House” or “La Casa Muda” the original title (based on a true story taking place in a small village in Uruguay). It’s very close to the original with a few exceptions. The exceptions can easily be overlooked as this equally as riveting as the original. The film will keep you on the edge of your seat waiting for the eventual demise of Sarah (Olsen). But for those of you seeing the original it may throw you the surprising ending as the house held the secrets of a youthful daughter and her two brothers. I thought Elizabeth Olsen plays a fantastic part, and the acting makes it very real.
Bottom line, I think if you like this genre you will like this film. The down side of the film was the camera work as Sarah moves throughout the house, and runs across the field outside the house. It was done so as to imitate the original but perhaps could have been improved upon. But overall I thought the film was well worth the time and money spent.
My Rating: 3 1/2 Mugs of Guinness - aka; 3 1/2 Stars for those being too young to enjoy the Irish Ale.
