GHOST RIDER: SPIRIT OF VENGEANCE (Feb 17, 2012)

Starring:  Nicolas Cage, Ciaran Hinds, Idris Elba, and Violante Placido
Director:  Mark Neveldine & Brian Taylor
Rated: PG-13  -  Runtime:  95 min
Genre:  Action | Fantasy | Thriller
Ok, you are probably not going to like this review if your a huge Ghost Rider fan, but this movie falls far short of the first one in this series!!  Whatever they were going for in this plot was lost after a few minutes into the movie.  The 3D wasn’t that great and the acting fell far short of being good.  Cage is a much better actor that what is presented herein, and this might be one he’ll want to erase from his history.  Ok, maybe there were a few good scenes, but they were so far and few between that it destroyed the rest.  Even the Rider animation wasn’t as good as the first one.  What the hell happened?  Let me hear from all you Rider followers!
My Rating: 1 Mugs of Guinness - aka; 1 Stars for those not enjoying the better life with Irish Ale.

THIS MEANS WAR (Feb 17, 2012)

Starring:  Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Tom Hardy, and Chelsea Handler
Director:  McG
Rated: R  -  Runtime:  98 min
Genre:  Comedy | Action | Romance
Loved the movie, excellent acting, great action scenes (most of them in some manner containing comedy of some sort), and basically you will find yourself laughing out loud at so many of the scenes along with the rest of the viewing audience that it ends up being one you will want to see again and adding to your DVD/Blue-Ray collection when it is released.
Witherspoon (Lauren), Pine (FDR), Hardy (Turk), and Handler (Trish) work together to bring to the screen a fantastic comedy involving two CIA agents on the hunt for a woman in there life (Pine and Hardy), one single woman looking for the right man after having left what seemed to be the best man she had ever been with (Witherspoon), and her best friend Trish (Handler) who is willing to offer any and all ideas relating to getting a man, and getting him in bed, even offering herself as a sex consultant to Lauren at one point.  (writers note: Chelsea Handler is lookin good!)
Put it all together and all I can say is “it’s a must go” you won’t be disappointed!!!!
My Rating: 4 Mugs of Guinness - aka; 4 Stars for those not enjoying the better life with Irish Ale.

Starring:  Denzel Washington, Ryan Reynolds, Robert Patrick, and Vera Farmiga
Director:  Daniel Espinosa
Rated: R  -  Runtime:  115 min
Genre:  Action | Crime | Mystery | Thriller
I have few words to describe the fantastic job done in putting this movie all together!  From the outset of the movie you are on the edge of your seat wondering what’s going to happen next.  For all those needing to leave the theater for any reason you may reenter the theater not knowing what happened where or when, so go see this movie, get situated with your popcorn / drinks / candy and be prepared for a great movie from start to end.  Cudo’s to Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds for making this movie the great action filled feature that it is.  This is a “Must See” you will not walk away disappointed in any way!!!
My Rating: 5 Mugs of Guinness - aka; 5 Stars for those not enjoying the better life with Irish Ale.

THE VOW (Feb 10, 2012)

Starring:  Rachel McAdams, Channing Tatum, Sam Neill, and Jessica Lange
Director:  Michael Sucsy
Rated: PG-13  -  Runtime:  104 min
Genre:  Drama | Romance
I know what you may be thinking, it’s another “chick-flick”, well friends this is a step beyond that which we normally think of as that type of movie.
The writers, director and actors in this movie have brought to the big screen a true story and I must say it was done very well.  This is one you are going to want to add to your favorite list.  The dynamics played out between husband and wife are tremendous.  Rachel McAdams (Paige) and Channing Tatum (Leo) show their true abilities as actress and actor in bringing to the foreground the events which took place after an event which tore the two apart.  I’m not going to go any further other than to say this is another “Must See” film.
If after seeing this movie you are not in love with the couple portrayed therein and the persistence that each had in this true life incident I would say you didn’t take in the entirety of the movie.
My Rating: 4 Mugs of Guinness - aka; 4 Stars for those not enjoying the better life with Irish Ale.

JOURNEY 2: THE MYSTERIOUS ISLAND (Feb 10, 2012)

Starring:  Josh Hutcherson, Dwayne Johnson, Michael Caine, and Vanessa Hudgens
Director:  Brad Peyton
Rated: PG-13  -  Runtime:  94 min
Genre:  Action | Adventure | Comedy | Family | Fantasy | Sci-Fi
Put together the plot of the movie, and the actors/actresses and we have a movie that all the kids on the block will want to see.  It is an enjoyable movie, having some crazy turns of events, and some great comedic scenes performed by the entire cast.  This movie is one that is a great one to go out to see once.  However, I don’t see this as one that you will be seeing made into a series, I could be wrong and would love to hear your input.
My Rating: 2 1/2 Mugs of Guinness - aka; 2 1/2 Stars for those being too young to enjoy the Irish Ale.

STAR WARS: EPISODE 1 - THE PHANTOM MENACE (Feb 10, 2012)

Starring:  Ewan McGregor, Liam Neeson, Natalie Portman, and Jake Lloyd
Director:  George Lucas
Rated: PG  -  Runtime:  136 min
Genre:  Action | Adventure | Fantasy | Sci-Fi
Well now I know what the big deal was with re-releasing all the episodes in order!  As I remember Star Wars, it was just a bunch of movies released with the same major title but having very little to do with each other.  But after seeing episode I (which I apparently missed altogether) I have a greater understanding of it’s beginning.....
I am still out on whether releasing it in 3D is making that much difference, but the content, action, humor, and all the other great things that made this film what it is are still present.  I saw it on the big screen preview and of course the dynamics of sound are incredible.
My Rating: 3 1/2 Mugs of Guinness - aka; 3 1/2 Stars for those being too young to enjoy the Irish Ale.
