Jackman (Charlie Kenton), Goyo (Max Kenton), and Lilly (Bailey Tallet) play the significant parts in this production. The casting in my estimation could not have been any better. The three listed here gel very nicely. Their parts, being distributed fairly evenly were taken on with commitment leaving you, the audience with a terrific performance.
The story line makes you believe in a fathers reunion with his son, regardless of the circumstances which took them apart. The acting was superb, the 3 main characters work so well with each other and bring to the screen the realism that’s so often missing.
Young Max, given up to his mother when he was young finds himself without a mother due to her passing away and a father (Charlie) once a professional boxer turned to robotic boxer who is engulfed in the sport with little or no time for anything else.
The story continues with the court dates set for the adoption of Max to the deceased wife’s sister Aunt Debra (Hope Davis). However, the court does not see it so, as a mother without a will the next of kin becomes the legal guardian. However, an agreement between Charlie and Aunt Debra’s new husband Marvin (James Rebhorn) was made with the option that Charlie takes Max for the summer while the Aunt Debra and Uncle Marvin take a European vacation.
