BIG MIRACLE (Feb 03, 2012)

Starring:  Drew Barrymore, John Krasinski, John Pingayak, and Ahmaogak Sweeney
Director:  Ken Kwapis
Rated: PG  -  Runtime:  107 min
Genre:  Drama | Romance
It is just as it was advertised and named to be, “Big Miracle”.  After sitting through the movie the I found that the moments in time reenacted were amazing to say the least.  Being based on a true story and brought to the screen as it has been is nothing short of a must go for all school kids and most adults.  Of course there will be the critic that nit picks every event and try to cast a shadow on the events portrayed therein.  As for me, POOH (that's me trying to clean up my language) on any critic that has a bad thing to say about the movie....  Drew Barrymore plays the part of a Greenpeace volunteer with one purpose in mind.  Save the three Gray Whales which have been trapped by 5 miles of ice, and of course she gives a Drew Barrymore performance - Great as always!
As the movie and actual event took place the ending was successful but only because of a team effort which included a Soviet Ice Breaker, which was the only thing big enough and with enough power to crack through the barrier pack of ice at the oceans edge.
You’ll enjoy this movie especially if you are an animal activist in any way.  Even if you’re not, just the idea that an entire eskimo tribe, the US government, and the Soviet Union were able to come together and make this work should cast some interest in seeing how it was done.
My Rating: 3 1/2 Mugs of Guinness - aka; 3 1/2 Stars for those not enjoying the better life with Irish Ale.
