"SHARK NIGHT 3D" (Sep 2, 2011)

Starring:  Sara Paxton, Dustin Milligan, Chris Carmack +++
Director:  David R. Ellis
Rated:  PG-13   Runtime:  91 minutes
The Plot: (IMDB)   “A lake-house retreat on the Louisiana Gulf turns into a nightmare for a group of vacationers when they are subjected to an improbable phenomenon: fresh-water shark attacks.”
I’m not going to waste any time telling you that this movie is without a doubt the worst water/creature/animal attack movie I've seen.  The story line, is so exaggerated it is truly unbelievable.
After the first guy has his arm torn off by the shark his friend dives into the water (knowing it was a shark attack) to try to retrieve it from the bottom of the lake.. Really?  Is a shark going to attack anything and not eat it?..  Oh come on now!
And this had all taken place within the first minutes of the film.
My plot summary:  ‘A group of college students are off to spend a weekend at a secluded island somewhere in the bayous of the south.  Upon arrival they are met by good-ole-boys (aka) Rednecks, then continue on to the island house and proceed to become devoured by salt water sharks in a fresh water lake.
The rednecks come back into play only to find out they have planned a money making website to resurrect the "faces of death", and guess who has become a part of their plan? Yep you guessed it.....

Being poorly written, having bad acting, and shitty effects led to a horrible flick!
Don’t waste your time or money on this film...... !!!!
I Rate it:   This film owes me 3 mugs of Guinness!!!

Postscript:
This movie did not release in all areas in 3D (but it couldn't help the movie even if it did!!!)
Plus check this out..... what a f-u this was!
I did a little research only to find that the species of shark which was used to devour one of the girls in this movie, Isistius or Cookiecutter shark, has been recorded to have only one unprovoked attack (non-fatal) in 430 years.

"DON’T BE AFRAID OF THE DARK (Aug 2011)

Starring: Katie Holmes (Kim), Guy Pearce (Alex), and Bailee Madison (Sally)+++
Director: Troy Nixey
Rated:  R   Runtime:  99 minutes
If you are a horror/thriller genre junkie this is one which you are going to enjoy.  It is packed with plenty of what the horror film junkie is waiting for, and you won’t be waiting long for the movie to start putting you on the edge of your seat.... Don’t have expectations of being frightened every minute, but when it does happen the writers have done a great job.  However, I think that more could have been done with the events leading up to the “basement scene”(but I’ll leave it there, and you can follow up with your comments).
The acting of Bailee Madison (Sally) has the audience captivated.  As for the unexpected ending, I think you will be surprised at it, I know I was! What no sequels?  Bummer!!!
I Rate it:  2.5 mugs of Guinness.

"OUR IDIOT BROTHER"   (Aug 2011)

Starring:  Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, and Zooey Deschanel
Director: Jesse Peretz
Rated: R  -  Runtime: 90 min
Genre:  Comedy | Drama
Ned (Rudd) has some brilliant moments of complete and utter stupidity, but I must say that his acting in this role was good (I’m not sure if it just comes natural to him or what, but this type of character is good for his career).  It’s the perfect role for him!
He is only outmatched in being a total moron by his ex-girlfriends new significant other.  Moments of comedic brilliance are sparsely seeded throughout the movie and manage to bring a smile to your face.  Mind you no laughter was heard, just a lot of creaking faces from the smiles.
The bright spots in the movie were the two starring women, both gave good performances.  Bottom line; See the other two movies that came out this week first, then if you have nothing better to do and are bored, go see this one!
I Rate it: 2 Mugs of Guinness.  (ok you caught me, I really had the second one just cause I was thirsty, really it’s only a 1.

COLUMBIANA   (Aug 2011)

Starring:  Zoe Saldana (Cataleya Restrepo), Michael Vartan (Danny Delanay), and Callum Blue (Richard)+++
Director:  Olivier Megaton
Rated: PG-13   Runtime: 107 minutes

WOW, does anyone want to go see a action packed movie this week?  If so, don’t miss this one.  Shortly after the opening scenes, there is action and suspense.  Don’t miss this one if you are an action movie junkie!

Young Cataleya is played by Amanda Stenberg, and cudo’s to this young actor, excellent job! (Remember her name, you will see her again).
As the movie progresses, the action and drama becomes more intense.  Taking notice of the audience, no one (other than myself seemed to ever move there heads off the screen), meaning only one of two things, they were hypnotized or the screen writers did their jobs, they had all the entire audience completely mesmerized and on the edge of their seats.
Great movie, exceptionally well written, and has a great ending as well.  Don’t be fooled by the opening scenes, but after the opening, look out, you had better have gotten your refreshments and made your necessary stops, because you won’t want to leave your seat.... Cataleya is one 'STEALTH, BADASS CHICK', she grew up knowing what she wanted to do with her life... “Get back at the person responsible for her parents deaths!”
I Rate it:   4.5 mugs of Guinness
